The 2024 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) for League of Legends started on May 1st, giving fans their first glimpse of the year at the top teams from each region competing on an international level.

  • This year's tournament carries even greater significance, as the winning team will secure an additional slot for their region at the World Championship (Worlds).
  • The region that achieves the second-best performance at MSI will also earn an extra spot at Worlds. To maintain the integrity of the regional leagues, the teams that originally qualified for Worlds must still perform well in their respective Summer Playoffs or Season Finals to keep their place in the tournament.

What is MSI?

The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is the first international event of the annual LoL Esports calendar.

MSI is an opportunity to assess the strengths and weaknesses of teams and regions at the mid-point of the season.

Representatives from different regions will compete for a chance to win the MSI championship.

The event will rotate from one region to another. This year, the teams will compete in Chengdu, China.
