LoL Ping Test

Your ping to every League of Legends server Measure your ping, jitter and spikes to all 15 League of Legends servers in about 15 seconds, without opening the client. Free, no download.

The test starts when the page opens and measures your ping to all 15 League of Legends servers: EUW, EUNE, NA, LAN, LAS, BR, OCE, RU, TR, ME, JP, KR, SEA, TW and VN. It needs JavaScript; the guide below works without it.

How This LoL Ping Test Works

This LoL ping test measures how long a request takes to travel from your browser to a data center in the city of each League of Legends server and back. That round trip is your ping. The test opens the connection with 2 warm-up requests, which it throws away, then times 8 more and shows the lowest, the median and the jitter for each server.

A website cannot reach Riot's game servers: the game talks to them over UDP, and browsers can only send web requests. So the test times the health check of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center in the same city as the Riot server. Where AWS has no data center in that city, it uses the nearest one and marks the row Estimate. The server table lists every location we measure.

  • Median: the middle value of the 8 samples. It is the number to compare with your in-game ping.
  • Min: the best sample, close to the shortest possible path between you and the server.
  • Jitter: how much the ping changes from one sample to the next. Above 10 ms you will feel it in teamfights.
  • Live monitor: one new sample every 2 seconds for up to 10 minutes, with a graph per server. Use it to catch spikes while someone streams or downloads at home.

Most ping test sites time a single cold request, which includes the DNS lookup and the TLS handshake. In our tests that made the first number 3 to 4 times higher than the real ping: 142 ms instead of 37 ms to Frankfurt. The warm-up requests remove that error.

League of Legends Server Locations

League of Legends has 15 live servers. EUW is in Amsterdam, EUNE in Frankfurt and NA in Chicago. The table gives every server's platform ID, the city Riot hosts it in, and where this test measures it.

The Public Beta Environment (PBE) runs in Chicago like NA, so the NA number applies to it. The Philippines and Thailand servers merged into Southeast Asia (SG2) in January 2025. China's servers are run by Tencent and are not part of this test. Riot moves servers rarely, but it does happen; the date in the table caption is when we last checked the list.

What Is a Good Ping in League of Legends?

A good ping in League of Legends is under 60 ms. Under 30 ms is as good as it gets, up to 100 ms is fine for normal games, and above 150 ms you will miss skillshots and dodges you would otherwise land. Jitter matters as much as the number: a steady 70 ms feels better than a ping that jumps between 30 and 120.

How ping feels in League of Legends
PingRatingWhat you notice
Under 30 msExcellentNothing. Abilities fire the moment you press the key.
30 to 60 msGoodNothing in practice; fine for ranked at any level.
60 to 100 msPlayableA small delay on flashes, dodges and last hits.
100 to 150 msNoticeableSkillshots land late; you lose trades you should win.
Over 150 msBadHard to play mechanical champions or to react in teamfights.

The colors in the test follow this table. The verdict next to your server also turns to Unstable when jitter goes above 15 ms or a request is lost, whatever the median.

Why Your In-Game Ping Is Different From This Test

Your ping in League can be a few milliseconds lower or higher than this test, and that is normal. The test measures to a data center in the same city as the Riot server, not to the game server itself, and it uses web requests instead of the game's UDP traffic.

  • Riot Direct: Riot runs its own network and connects directly with many internet providers. Game traffic can take a shorter path than web traffic, so the game can show a lower number.
  • Distance to the measured city: rows marked Nearby are a few hundred km from the Riot server (5 to 15 ms off at most); rows marked Estimate can be 20 to 60 ms off.
  • Wi-Fi and load at home: the game's counter changes with every packet. If someone starts a download during your game, it goes up there and not in a test you ran earlier.
  • How the number is shown: the client shows a smoothed value. The test shows the median of 8 samples.

For servers marked Same city, the test should land within about 5 to 15 ms of the game. If the gap is much bigger, run the live monitor while you play: it shows whether your connection changes during the game.

Why Is My LoL Ping High? Fixes That Work

A high LoL ping has two causes: distance to the server, which you can only change by playing on a closer one, and problems on your connection, which you can fix. The test tells you which one it is: if every server is slow and unsteady, the problem is at home; if only one is, it is the route to that server.

  1. Use a cable instead of Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi adds jitter and lost packets, especially through walls or with many devices on the network.
  2. Stop downloads, game updates, cloud backups and 4K streams on every device on your network while you play.
  3. Restart your router if it has been on for weeks, and check that it is not overheating.
  4. Close apps that use the network in the background: torrent clients, launchers that update games, video calls.
  5. Turn off VPNs unless your provider routes badly to the server. A VPN adds a stop on the way.
  6. If your ping is high only at night, your provider's network is busy at peak hours. Test at different times and send the results to your provider.
  7. Check that you are on the right server. Players who move to another country keep their old server until they transfer the account.

A high but steady ping, with jitter under 5 ms, almost always comes from distance. No setting or program removes it.

LoL Ping Spikes and Packet Loss

Ping spikes are short jumps in ping, for example from 35 to 300 ms for a second or two. In League they show up as your champion freezing and then snapping to another spot. Packet loss is when data never arrives, and the game shows a plug icon or rubber-bands your champion.

The test counts a sample as a spike when it is at least 20 ms and 50% above the median, and it counts every request that gets no answer within 2 seconds as lost. Spikes on every server point to your connection: Wi-Fi interference, a device on the network that starts uploading, or a router whose buffer fills up (bufferbloat). Spikes on one server only point to a problem on the route, which usually clears by itself.

To catch spikes that come and go, start the live monitor and leave it open on a second screen. Each server gets a graph of the last 60 seconds, and lost requests show as red dots.

How to Show Your Ping in League of Legends

Press Ctrl+F during a game to show your ping and FPS in the top-right corner of the screen. Press it again to hide them.

  1. Start or join a game: the counter works only in a match, not in the client.
  2. Press Ctrl+F. Your ping (in ms) and your frames per second appear in the top-right corner.
  3. To change the shortcut, open the game settings (Esc), go to Hotkeys, then Display, and set a new key for Toggle FPS Display.

The counter only shows your ping to the server your account is on. To compare it with other servers before you play, use the test at the top of this page.

Can You Still Ping LoL Servers With cmd?

No. Guides still tell you to open the command prompt and run ping 104.160.141.3 for EUW or ping 104.160.131.3 for NA. We tested these addresses on 10 October 2026: they answered neither ping (ICMP) nor connections on port 443, so the command only returns "Request timed out". Riot does not publish addresses you can ping.

Some websites show a number for these addresses anyway. In the code of one of them, the time until the request fails is multiplied by 0.3 and shown as your ping, so the number has nothing to do with your connection. A test you can trust measures a host that answers, as this one does, and says which host it is.

Is the LoL Server Down or Is It Your Connection?

If you cannot log in or the game keeps disconnecting, first check Riot's official League of Legends server status page for your region. It lists outages, maintenance and incidents.

If Riot shows no problem, run this test. Steady, low numbers mean your connection works and the problem is on Riot's side or in the client. High jitter or lost requests on every server mean the problem is your connection. A problem on one server only points to the route between your provider and that server.

Which LoL Server Should You Play On?

Play on the server with the lowest ping you can get, as long as you speak the language most players there use. In Europe the choice is usually between EUW (Amsterdam) and EUNE (Frankfurt), which are close: from most of Europe the difference is under 10 ms, so pick the one where your friends play.

Your account belongs to one server. Moving it to another is a paid Server Transfer in the client store; your champions and skins move with it. Before you transfer, run this test a few times at the hours you play, and look at the rank distribution and the MMR checker for the region you are going to.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good ping for League of Legends?

Under 60 ms is good, under 30 ms is excellent, and up to 100 ms is playable. Above 150 ms you will notice the delay on every skillshot. Steady ping matters too: jitter above 10 ms feels worse than a slightly higher but stable number.

How accurate is an online LoL ping test?

For servers measured in the same city, within about 5 to 15 ms of the game, as long as the test warms up the connection first, as this one does. Rows marked Estimate (TR, LAN, LAS and VN) are measured to the nearest data center and can be 20 to 60 ms off.

Why is my ping higher in game than in this test?

Usually because of Wi-Fi or other traffic on your network while you play, which the game's counter picks up and a test run earlier does not. Run the live monitor during a game to see it. The game can also show a lower ping than the test, because Riot Direct routes game traffic on a shorter path.

Which LoL server will give me the lowest ping?

The one physically closest to you: the test shows it at the top of the list. From most of Europe that is EUW or EUNE, from the US and Canada it is NA, from Mexico and Central America it is LAN.

Where are the EUW and NA servers located?

EUW is in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and NA in Chicago, United States. EUNE is in Frankfurt, Germany. The server table lists all 15.

How do I show my ping in League of Legends?

Press Ctrl+F during a game. Your ping and FPS appear in the top-right corner. You can change the key in Settings, Hotkeys, Display, Toggle FPS Display.

Does the cmd ping to 104.160.x.x still work?

No. In our test on 10 October 2026, the addresses that guides give for EUW and NA (104.160.141.3 and 104.160.131.3) did not answer, so the command only returns "Request timed out".

Can a VPN or a game booster lower my LoL ping?

Rarely. They can help only when your provider takes a long detour to the server, and they add a stop in every other case. Test with and without one: if the median does not drop, turn it off.
